Posted on 01/11/2022
(SPS) -- Update 1/20: Bartlett Academy will return to in-person learning on Friday, 1/21. All schools will now be in-person.

Update 1/17: Sapulpa Public Schools will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18.

One exception will be Bartlett Academy which will stay in Distance Learning through Thursday, January 20.

We continue to monitor illnesses and absences among staff and students closely, and we will immediately alert you if the plan changes.

Please follow our social media platforms closely for any potential updates.

We will evaluate staffing at Bartlett Academy on Thursday and make a determination regarding Friday's instruction later this week.

Update 1/12: Starting at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13 through Monday, January 17, SPS school buildings will be closed for deep cleaning. Meals will be distributed outdoors as scheduled.

Distance Learning continues this Thursday and Friday. Next Monday, January 17 is a school holiday for MLK Day. In-person classes are expected to resume Tuesday, January 18.

The service center and the admin building will remain open for employees the remainder of the week. Athletic events should go on as scheduled but please check with coaches or visit Chieftain Athletics Facebook page prior to the event to make sure it's still on. The weekend Snowball dance will be postponed to a later date.

The Sapulpa Middle School TAPS meeting scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 20th at 3:30 p.m. in the library.

Posted 1/11: The number of absences among students and staff due to COVID-19 and other illnesses has increased sharply. As a result, Sapulpa Public Schools will transition to Distance Learning for all school sites for the rest of the week, Wednesday, January 12 through Friday, January 14.

School will not be in session on Monday, January 17 to mark Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In-person instruction is expected to resume on Tuesday, January 18.

This transition to Distance Learning includes all students. They should be prepared with Chromebooks and other equipment and information required for Distance Learning. If you need assistance, contact your school site. For technical assistance, call 918-216-5000.

Distance Learning handbooks can be found here.  Meal pickup information is below.

Activities and athletics events will go on as scheduled, but please check for changes prior to the event.

We do not take these decisions lightly and must weigh carefully how seriously absences are affecting our ability to staff classrooms and buses. On Monday, COVID-related absences alone totaled 33, but at the end of the day Tuesday, that number had more than tripled to 114, including 22 staff members.

View the COVID tracker and related information.

The district has never experienced a combination of reported contagious illnesses such as this in the past, and the health and safety of our students and staff are top of mind in this move to Distance Learning.

Sapulpa Public Schools appreciates your continued support as we monitor the rapidly changing situation.

Updates will be available on our website and our social media platforms. We will let you know as soon as possible if the Distance Learning protocol changes.

If you need to update your contact information or have additional questions, contact your child's school.
