Cinderella(SPS) -- The spring musical will be "magical and transformational!"

Those are the words of Sapulpa Public Schools' vocal music director, Gina Myers, when announcing the upcoming production of Cinderella in March.

Sapulpa High School will bring the renowned fairy tale to life at Shaw Auditorium March 2, 3, and 4. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5.

"We chose Cinderella because we feel like it is a good fit for the potential cast this year," said Mrs. Myers prior to the December auditions. "We hope that the familiar story draws a lot of people to want to be part of the musical."

She promises there will be transformations, to mirror the rags-to-riches, dreams come true tale of Cinderella. But making the dream a reality won't be without a few challenges.

"This is a very technical show," said Becky Braswell, Sapulpa High School theatre director. "We already have 'magical' costumes that will surprise the audience. The challenge will be building the perfect carriage to get through the auditorium door."

Mrs. Braswell, too, promises a memorable show filled with beautiful music and transformations.

Sapulpa High School band will also provide live music for the production.

The students will perform preview shows for the junior high and high school.

Sapulpa School Board members approved Cinderella at November's board meeting.

Special thanks to the Bartlett Foundation and the Oklahoma Arts Council for generous donations which help support performing arts at Sapulpa Public Schools.
