Ping Pings headed to State dance competition

Ping Pings headed to State dance competition(SPS) -- The reigning 5A dance champions are kicking their way to the state competition to defend their titles!

In November, the Sapulpa High School Ping Ping Dance Team qualified for the state  Oklahoma State Dance Team Directors Association (OSDTDA) competition in Large Senior Ensemble. Seniors Ella Chaffin and Kiley Sontag made All-Region East. The Pings will also compete at state with their kick and mix routines. 

Last year, the Pings were named State Champions for 5A Kick and 5A Mix. 

OSDTDA will hold its state competition at Cox Convention Center in Tulsa on December 9 and 10. Admission is $10 and parking is $5 - $10. 

Performance times:
Ensemble - Friday, 8:11 p.m.
Mix - Saturday, 6:12 p.m.
Kick - Saturday, 7:32 p.m.

AND THEY WON'T STOP THERE
Meanwhile the Pings are on the road to the national DTU (Dance Team Union) competition for another year, after placing first at the regional DTU competition in Broken Arrow last month. The national competition will be held in Orlando, FL, February 10-12. 

In February, 2022, the Pings were named the national DTU champions in Large Varsity Team Performance and Small Varsity High Kick.

ACADEMIC ALL-STARS, TOO
The following Ping Pings were named Frontier Valley Conference Academic All-Conference for having a 3.5 or higher GPA: Kiley Sontag, Paisley Williams, Laney Jones, Brynlee Clingenpeel,  Gabriella Chaffin, Acree Ernst, Peyton Leonard, Shirin Mortazavi, Brynlee Pinson, Jordyn Pulley, Makenzie Scott, Jayden Simpson, Evelyn Soares, Emma Williams.

TITLES AS A TEAM AND SOLO
The Pings have nabbed titles at additional competitions this fall. At the TSF competition in October, they took first place for Senior Ensemble and 1st, 2nd, and 5th place, respectively, for intermediate soloists Evie Walling, Laney Jones and Paisley Williams. Senior soloist Brooklin Latham earned 5th place.
