(SPS) -- A total of 24 teams participated in the 30th Annual John Cockrum Golf Tournament benefiting the Sapulpa Public School Foundation on Monday, September 12.
Generous community partners, corporate sponsors and participant entry fees from the annual tournament raise funds for the Grants-to-Teachers program to advance innovative teaching projects at Sapulpa Public Schools.
Grant recipients will be announced at a later date.
Last year's grants totaled more than $27,000 and funded special projects, supplies, equipment, and technology for teachers at all Sapulpa Public schools. The John Cockrum golf tournament has provided three decades of incredible support for public education in our community.
The tournament is named for former Sapulpa HS Principal and Assistant Superintendent
John Cockrum, who later served as Chamber of Commerce director and still makes his home in Sapulpa.
