Community Kickoff set for August 25

(SPS) -- The second Chieftain Community Kickoff will be held Thursday, August 25, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at George F. Collins Stadium.

The event, designed to be an evening of school and community spirit, is organized by Sapulpa High School, Sapulpa Athletics Department, and Student Council. It is the perfect opportunity to rally fans for the football season opener against Sand Springs.

Attendees will enjoy food trucks, games, raffle drawings, and inflatables set up in the stadium parking lot. Proceeds benefit Chieftain athletics and activities.

Inside the stadium, each fall sports team, from Little Chiefs through Varsity, will be introduced at a community pep rally.

The Sapulpa High School Big Blue Band will play as cheerleaders, Ping Pings and fall athletic teams fill the field, ready to show off their talents for the fall athletic season.

Sapulpa takes on Sand Springs in the newly sponsored American Heritage Bank Highway 97 Rivalry Friday, August 26 at home. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.

The 100-year-old crosstown rivalry now stands tied, with both the Chieftains and the Sandites winning 45 games each. Though the rivalry started 100 years ago, several games were not played over the years. Although the Sandites won last year, the Chieftains look to claim the new American Heritage Bank Highway 97 Rivalry trophy.

Hope to see you at the Chieftain Community Kickoff. Please visit the Facebook event page for more information.
