Sapulpa Middle School recognized by Arbor Day Foundation
Posted on 10/17/2023
(Arbor Day Foundation/SPS) --Sapulpa Middle School is one of 64 schools across the U.S. to earn recognition through the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree Campus K-12 program.

Sapulpa Middle School has earned the distinction twice. Last school year, students planted twelve trees around the middle school, said middle school teacher Madison Noble.

The Arbor Day Foundation is the largest membership nonprofit organization dedicated to tree planting. The Tree Campus K-12 program was launched during the 2021-22 school year. It encourages educators to create meaningful opportunities for students to interact with trees.

To earn the distinction, Sapulpa Middle School met four goals:
-Maintaining a Tree Campus team
-Creating an education plan that connects students to trees and their global benefits
-Offering a hands-on experience engaging students in trees and the community
-Holding an Arbor Day observance to celebrate trees within the school.

Arbor Day is observed every April.

Recognized schools are in 28 states. During the 2022-23 school year, more than 22,000 students participated and more than 32,000 trees were planted or distributed.

Thank you for giving back, Sapulpa Middle School!
