BOOKS FOR BUCKS

Books for Bucks is a partnership between Sapulpa Public Schools and the Bartlett Foundation to promote reading among 5th grade students.

Books for Bucks was started around 1998 with the idea to reward students who read.

Originally, the program began with each child receiving $1 per book. From there it became $1 for every 100 pages read, to today's basis on accelerated reader (AR) points. Fifth graders can earn up to $15 per book if they make at least 80 percent on their AR test based on their reading level.

In 2018, the Bartlett Foundation added another incentive. Students are allowed to "bank" points for books worth more than $15. The student from each Sapulpa Public Schools elementary who has the most points in his/her bank receives an additional $100.

The Bartlett Foundation has given more than $150,000 to the Books for Bucks program. Please contact your 5th grade student's school if you're interested in learning more about the program.
