(SPS) -- Sapulpa Public Schools is once again hoping to break its fundraising records for the Tulsa Area United Way, in order to help agencies that serve Sapulpa children and families.

This year's campaign has kicked off last month and will continue through the end of October, with school sites and district administration holding events and competitions to raise donations.

This year, the district's fundraising goal is $35,000. Last year, SPS worked together to raise $30,782, and was named one of the Tulsa Area United Way's top 100 giving companies. The district also received the Community Spirit award.

The Tulsa Area United Way serves more than half a million people in the six-county region which includes residents of Sapulpa. Some of the local agencies served include:
  • Youth Services of Creek County
  • The Salvation Army Creek County Boys & Girls Club
  • Caring Community Friends
The partnership with Caring Community Friends allowed Sapulpa Public Schools to build the Book and Snack Mobile, which provides children in the community with food and books during the summer months. The Book and Snack Mobile will enter its fourth year of operations in the summer of 2023.

Sapulpa Public Schools has historically raised tens of thousands for the Tulsa Area United Way, helping the non-profit organization to surpass its fundraising goals for its partner agencies.

SPS earned the Green Country Business Award in 2020, awarded to a company that increases the size of its campaign year over year.
