Why We Love Sapulpa
“I love how the teachers want to get to know each student as a person and not just another name on an enrollment form.”
--- Mother of three Sapulpa Public Schools students
“I love the teachers and their personalities. It’s fun having teachers you can trust.”
--- Sapulpa High School graduate
“The teachers are better [here] and they push you to your very best.”
--- 5th grader, Jefferson Heights Elementary
Those are just a few people who will tell you why they chose to come to school in the Sapulpa Public Schools district. We have four elementary schools, a middle school, junior high, alternative academy, and high school and some of the best programs for students in northeast Oklahoma. If you find yourself asking, "Why Sapulpa?," there are plenty of reasons.
Why Sapulpa?
Sapulpa is a tight-knit community that embraces our schools and our students. The support we receive is second to none and means the world to our students, faculty, and staff. You will be amazed when you see the streets lined with people during the Homecoming parade. The schools are the focus of this city, so much so, voters passed a $279 million bond in 2023 to build a new high school and improve sites around the district.
School Successes
U.S. News and World Report ranks Sapulpa High School one of the 2025-26 Best High Schools in the nation. Sapulpa Public Schools was one of only three districts in the northeastern part of the state to have three elementary schools INCREASE their report card grades from the previous year. Freedom Elementary is one of just two elementary schools in NE Oklahoma to earn an A grade, and one of the state's top 30 elementary schools, and it has been recognized as a
National Blue Ribbon School
. Greatschool.org rates our four elementary schools with high marks, including a perfect 10. Read for yourself about

Virtual Academy
We offer a virtual program for those students who prefer a remote experience. If your child learns better at home, we have the ability to provide that to your student.
Sapulpa Virtual Academy
is a blended approach to education that includes full or partial online delivery of instruction with an element of student control over the time, place, path, and/or pace of learning. And, students have the option to enroll in an elective such as athletics or fine arts so that they don’t have to miss out on being part of a team or school spirit.
Special Education
Our Special Education Department is first class, with our Special Education teachers earning numerous accolades for their exemplary work with students. We have a
job training program in which secondary students learn skills
that can help them gain employment after graduation. If your child needs to be on an Individualized Education Program, we have the resources to help so your child doesn’t feel left behind.
A Caring Community
We take care of our less fortunate students when they’re not in school. Our pantry provides food to those children. They receive a bag each week to help them get through the weekend and they receive bags for those times when we’re out on extended breaks. During the summer, our
Book and Snack Mobile
, in partnership with Caring Community Friends, travels the city providing books for checkout as well as take-home bagged meals and snacks. We want to feed the minds and the bellies of our students all year long. We also have the Kids Kloset. This is a room in our administration building furnished with clothing of all sizes and all seasons for those in need.
Athletics Programs
Our athletic programs are very competitive. Boys basketball made it to the state tournament in 2019 and 2021, while the Girls program advanced to state in 2020 and won it all in 2021 and 2023 as the 5A State Champions. Girls soccer made it to state in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Our Cross Country program consistently places student-athletes in the state competition, including winning the individual state champion in 5A girls during the 2020 season. Our football program consistently makes the playoffs. Our Ping Ping dance team was crowned National Champions in 2020 through 2023, and have brought home state titles each year since 2013.
Scholarships
Our graduating classes consistently earn approximately $2,000,000 in scholarships to continue their education.
Now, we can continue to go on and on but after reading all of that, are you ready? Don’t hesitate to contact our
Enrollment Center
if you have any questions about enrolling or transferring your child to Sapulpa. We look forward to hearing from you and for your child to be #ChieftainStrong.
One final note. Hear from alumni of our schools...
"Those teachers, they took me as their own. They made me feel special. They allowed me to be who I could be and I knew I was loved by 'em."
--- 1990 Sapulpa High School graduate
Eric Maddox
, war veteran who discovered the location of Saddam Hussein which led to the capture of the Iraqi dictator.
"I can think of teachers and coaches that I had throughout my experience here in Sapulpa that helped give me leadership abilities to just be strong and confident in who I am and believe that I could achieve what I wanted to achieve."
---
Adam Tico Hernandez
, 2000 Sapulpa High School graduate and lead guitarist, band manager for country music star Lauren Alaina.
