See You at the Pole 2021(SPS) -- A chilly start to the first day of fall didn't stop students, staff, parents, and guests from gathering at school flagpoles on Wednesday to take part in the annual See You at the Pole.

The voluntary event is a half hour of prayer and worship. Students meet at school flagpoles before the school day begins to sing and reflect, while enjoying fellowship and togetherness.

At the Sapulpa High School campus, nearly three dozen students and staff members formed a circle and listened to songs led by sophomores Emma Williams and Makyla McDonald. Seniors Kayla Bartgis and Kiley Peterson, who organized the event, spoke to the group and encouraged silent prayer circles.

Pastors and members of First Baptist Church, First Christian Church, Allen Free Will Baptist Church and several other community churches spread out across the district, bringing donuts and helping coordinate See You at the Pole events at Sapulpa's schools.

At Freedom Elementary, First Baptist Church of Sapulpa pastor Paul Spittka led a group of approximately two dozen teachers, students and parents in prayer.
