Sapulpa Public Schools Elementary Schools will begin the school day ten minutes earlier this academic year.

Oklahoma Senate Bill 1481, which went into effect July 1, mandates that all public schools provide at least 40 minutes of daily recess for elementary students. According to the legislation, recess time is considered non-instructional time. Sapulpa, like many districts across the state, must add time to the school day to meet the new requirement. Our goal is to notify families of this change as soon as possible so any necessary adjustments can be made to ensure students arrive at school on time each day.

- All elementary schools in the district will start each school day ten minutes earlier.
- The end of the school day will not change.
- PLC Mondays will begin ten minutes earlier at elementary schools.
- Elementary bus routes will run ten minutes earlier.
- Latchkey hours will not change.
- This change will not affect secondary schools (6-12).

School bell times starting with the 2026-27 school year are as follows:

Freedom, Holmes Park and Jefferson Heights Elementary Schools
Monday (PLC Days) 9:20 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tuesday-Friday 8:50 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Liberty Elementary STEM Academy
Monday (PLC Days) 8:30 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
Tuesday-Friday 8 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.

Doors will open in time for breakfast service. Breakfast service times are as follows:

Freedom, Holmes Park and Jefferson Heights Elementary Schools
Monday 8:40 - 9:20 a.m.
Tuesday-Friday 8:10 a.m. - 8:50 a.m.

Liberty Elementary STEM Academy
Monday 7:50 - 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday-Friday 7:20 - 8:00 a.m.

Student ID photos will be taken during Chromebook pick-up and high school parking passes may be purchased. PowerSchool single sign-on information will be available. Schedules will be sent through PowerSchool later.

DID YOU SEE & HEAR IT? Big things are happening at the Sapulpa Athletics expansion at Chieftain Center. Nabholz Corporation construction managers coordinated a Sikorsky S-61N to lift more than a dozen massive air conditioning units atop the new Chieftain Center addition, where crews quickly moved to install them to cool the new, state-of-the-art athletics expansion. Each unit weighs up to a ton!

PROGRESS AS PROMISED! Take a look at the beautiful brick work happening at the future Sapulpa High School. The brick work pays homage to Sapulpa's historic red brick aesthetic while embracing modernity with lighter brick options. Architects at Reed Architecture and Interiors worked meticulously, with feedback from district leaders and faculty, to design the complex masonry, while construction managers at Nabholz Corporation ensure the work is top notch. Construction is moving fast this summer, and the future Sapulpa High School is really taking shape along Route 66!

Congratulations to Sapulpa Public Schools Athletic Director, Michael Rose, on earning the Steve Smiley Award of Excellence from the Oklahoma Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. This much-deserved award recognizes Mr. Rose for his phenomenal leadership of Chieftain Athletics. Thank you for everything you do (and he does a lot)! You will always see Mr. Rose supporting our Chieftains and ensuring our athletic teams and coaches have what they need to reach the stars.

CAMP INVENTION: Students activated their STEM superpowers with one-of-a-kind challenges! From investigating clues with "fur-ensics" to making waves in entrepreneurship and building rockets -- campers are getting an immersive science and engineering experience. They will wrap up the week with a showcase of their projects.

😎 YAY SUMMER! Summer S.P.A.R.K. and Summer Feeding have begun at Freedom Elementary School! Breakfast and lunch are free at Freedom, 7:30-8am and 11am-noon Mon-Fri this summer for children 18 and under. Summer feeding is closed June 19 and July 3 and the meal program ends on July 24. Summer School is already underway at Sapulpa Middle School for secondary students!
