(SPS) -- The spring musical will be huge!

Sapulpa High School will present Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach at Shaw Auditorium February 29, March 1 and March 2. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

"It's a fun show and it's family friendly," said Becky Braswell, Sapulpa High School theatre director. "We have a good group of students to fill the roles. Our community, particularly young people, will enjoy the show."

James and the Giant Peach is based on the book of the same name. It's about magic that causes a peach and a group of insects to become giant. They then end up going on a huge adventure together with a young orphan named James.

"Rich Goss, our usual set builder, built a giant peach and some other fun set and prop pieces," said Mrs. Braswell. "He also designed puppets to join the show."

Mrs. Braswell is the stage director. Gina Myers, SHS choir director, is the music director and producer. The show will also feature live music from Sapulpa High School Band directed by Whitney Yokum.

"There are many fun songs and numbers throughout the show," said Mrs. Braswell. "There will be dance with a big ensemble and a lot of fun!"

Sapulpa School Board members approved James and the Giant Peach at November's board meeting.

Special thanks to the Bartlett Foundation and the Oklahoma Arts Council for generous donations which help support performing arts at Sapulpa Public Schools.
