DRAMA I     

One Semester Class

Grades: 10-12

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description:  Drama 1 is designed to introduce students to a variety of theatre- related topics. Students will read and write scripts, learn acting skills, learn about costume and set design, and explore improvisation. Students will have opportunities to participate in activities sponsored by Oklahoma Thespian Society!

 

DRAMA II       

One Semester Class

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:  Drama I 

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description: Drama 2 is designed to build on the fundamentals learned in Drama 1. Students will further explore acting, writing, and design for theatre. Students will have opportunities to participate in activities sponsored by Oklahoma Thespian Society!

 

DRAMA III       

One Semester Class

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:  Drama II 

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description: Drama 3 is designed to build on the fundamentals learned in Drama 1 and 2. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of dramatic and humorous literature. Students will explore more advanced acting techniques and have the opportunity to perform for a small audience. Students will have opportunities to participate in activities sponsored by Oklahoma Thespian Society!

 

DRAMA IV       

One Semester Class

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:  Drama III 

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description: Drama 4 is designed to build on the fundamentals learned in Drama 1, 2, & 3. Students will explore new plays and musicals. Students will have the opportunity to perform for a small audience as well as participate in Theatre In Our Schools activities.  Students will have opportunities to participate in activities sponsored by Oklahoma Thespian Society!

 

DEBATE I, II  

Full-Year

Grades: 10-12

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Elective

Course Description:  Debate I and II are designed to prepare the student to debate at contests.  The student will have the opportunity to learn and practice researching, logical thinking, organizing and reasoning.  The student will also participate in public speaking events or acting events at contests.  Eligibility must be maintained and participation at speech tournaments is required.

 

HONORS DEBATE III, IV     

Full-Year 

Grades: 11-12

Prerequisite:  Debate I and Debate II

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Elective

Course Description:  Honors Debate builds off of skills learned in Debate 1 and 2. Students will mentor new debaters and continue to participate in debate tournaments as well as help host the Sapulpa tournament.

 

PERFORMING ARTS/THEATER       

Full-Year Class

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:  Teacher Approval

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description:  The primary focus of this class is to produce and perform a play for the Oklahoma Regional One - Act contest.  Students will also read plays, write scenes and monologues, and produce a show for the annual dinner theater.  Students will be instrumental in producing and leading a theater day for middle school students. And students will have opportunities to participate in activities sponsored by Oklahoma Thespian Society, including acting, musical, or tech competitions and scholarship applications.

 

COMPETITIVE ACTING      

Full-Year Class

Grades: 10-12

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description: Competitive Acting is designed to prepare the student for performing at speech contests. Students will learn and practice skills necessary for performing duet acting scenes, public speaking events, humorous/dramatic interpretation, monologue acting, original oratory, and extemporaneous speaking. A student enrolled in this course is not required to debate. Eligibility must be maintained and participation at speech tournaments is required.

 

 

SPEECH I      

One Semester (1st) Class

Grades: 10-12

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description:  Speech is designed to provide a foundation in communication and public speaking.  Students will become comfortable writing organized speeches and speaking in front of small groups. 

 

SPEECH II       

One Semester (2nd) Class  

Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite:  Speech I

Credit Value: .5 per semester/Fine Arts

Course Description: Speech 2 is designed to build on the fundamentals learned in Speech 1. Advanced forms of public speaking will be studied. The student will practice speech writing skills and present several different types of speeches.
