(SPS) -- Community members, teachers, administration, parents and staff members met at the Sapulpa High School Commons on Thursday, December 15, to discuss the latest developments in the proposed bond issue for a new Sapulpa high school.
It was the third in a series of long-range planning meetings held during the fall 2022 semester.

District bond financial advisor Zack Robinson of BOK Financial gave an overall picture of interest rates and inflation, which have challenged other school districts in the region while they carry out bond construction projects.
Team members from Nabholz Construction Services, chosen as the district's construction management firm, gave an update on current construction costs and detailed how the district can navigate rising costs of materials.
Representatives from architectural and design firms DLR Group and Reed Architecture and Interiors presented conceptual ideas for a new campus.
Superintendent Rob Armstrong and Assistant Superintendent Johnny Bilby, along with a district committee, are working closely with the architects and construction management team. They are meeting each week to examine the financial outlook and scope the space and additional needs for a new high school campus. Surveying has already begun around Sapulpa High School.
District administrators are enthusiastic and optimistic about the design of a new high school. Superintendent Rob Armstrong told meeting attendees the district will stay on course to propose a bond election for next year. The school board must approve a proposal before it goes to voters.
Another community meeting is planned for January, 2023.
