(SPS) -- Sapulpa High School junior and Lady Chieftains basketball player Taylor Bilby has earned the latest Chieftain Athletics Core Value Award.
Bilby received the award for the Core Value of Self Control.
The award is given monthly to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the values of Sapulpa Chieftains Athletics - character, humility, commitment, integrity, self-control, mental toughness, team, responsibility, honor, and service.
The winner is selected after nominations are submitted by the coaches and reviewed by the athletics department.
"Taylor never falters from who she is as a young lady and a basketball player. She plays on the court with poise and composure and doesn't try to do things she isn't capable of. She keeps an even head on her shoulders regardless of how she is playing. Off the court, she is a class act and stays true to her standards and morals," said Athletic Director Michael Rose as he read from Taylor's nomination.
