Spring High School Musical opens March 6

(SPS) -- The curtains will soon open for the spring musical at Sapulpa High School auditorium!

Sapulpa High School will present Once Upon A Mattress March 6, 7 and 8. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 (cash or card).

Once Upon A Mattress is a musical comedy by Mary Rodgers, a humorous adaptation of the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea." In it, a mischievous queen, determined to control her son the prince, forbids anyone in the kingdom from marrying until her son, the prince, finds a bride. Enter the spirited Princess Winnifred, from the swamp, who must identify a pea under many mattress to try to win over the queen and the Prince's heart.

The set consists of a large, detailed castle, period costumes, physical comedy and music you'll sing to long after seeing the production.

Becky Braswell is the stage director. Gina Myers, SHS choir director, is the music director and producer. The show will also feature live music from Sapulpa High School Band directed by Whitney Yokum and piano accompaniment by Bruce Wilkin.

Because of construction at Sapulpa High School, spectators should park in available lots behind Domino's pizza or at Holmes Park Elementary. There are limited spaces and handicapped spots in front of Shaw Auditorium. Guests should allow extra time to park and walk to the auditorium. Ticket sales begin at 6:45 Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and seating is open starting at 7:00. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m.
