(SPS) -- Sapulpa High School senior Maddie Braswell is a talented photographer whose photos stand out in the yearbook. She plans to hone her photography skills in an intensive career-prep program, and turn those skills into a lifelong career.

Maddie was recently accepted to attend Rocky Mountain School of Photography. The school focuses on helping students develop the art of photography and prepares them to become professionals in the field. The school is nestled in picturesque Missoula, Montana.

Maddie researched the best schools for photography and landed on the school in Missoula. She and her family visited over the summer and she fell in love with the location.

"I always wanted to do something with photography," said Maddie. "I love photography, and I found this through a photographer on Instagram. I just want to do photography and this is a school that just does photography. And that's why I want to go, because it's focused on what I want to do."

To be accepted into the program, Maddie was required to write a letter of intention and describe her "dream photo shoot."

"My dream photo shoot was a wedding on the mountains," Maddie said. "I want to do weddings, senior portraits, newborns, family pictures and other portrait photography."

She's grateful for her time on the SHS Yearbook staff and the photography fundamentals she learned from yearbook advisor Katie Greer.

She also appreciates the opportunity to learn from local professional photographer, Gary Box, who brings SHS students to his studio and shows them the finer points of the art.

Before she packs up for Montana next summer, Maddie and her camera will be found on the sidelines of SPS sporting events.

"I like taking photos of the Ping Pings, the cheerleaders, soccer pictures," said Maddie. "Ms. Greer took a picture of the Pings and their boots. I really liked it, but wanted it from a different angle. I spent the first part of the game lying on the ground, trying to capture this perfect angle. That's going to be on the Pings' page of the yearbook, and that's the photo I'm most excited about."

Clearly, Maddie's talent is getting noticed.

"She won a contest here in town during the Route 66 Blowout," said Ms. Greer. "[Rocky Mountain School of Photography] is a ten-month program; she's prepared, it's her passion, so I think she's going to be perfect at it."
