The Hello Girls is based on the history of the first women to serve in the U.S. Army during World War I, hired for their pleasant relaying of wartime calls, according to the musical's website. The musical was written by Cara Reichel and Peter Mills, and composed by Peter Mills.
In The Hello Girls, an untold chapter of World War I comes to life in a musical that is heartfelt, uplifting, and deeply inspiring.
The Hello Girls shares the extraordinary true story of bilingual telephone operators recruited by the U.S. Army and deployed to France to manage crucial communications from the front lines. Their work was essential to the war effort, yet for decades they were denied official recognition as veterans. This powerful production honors their bravery, perseverance, and unwavering determination through storytelling that is both entertaining and meaningful.
Featuring music inspired by the sounds of the early 20th century, The Hello Girls blends rich storytelling with vibrant music to create an empowering theatrical experience — one that celebrates service, resilience, and the trailblazing women who refused to be forgotten.
Visitors can park in the gravel lot at Dewey and Watchorn on the northeast corner of the campus and enter through the classroom wing adjacent to the auditorium (past the circle drive).
