(Article by Riley Groves, SPS Communications/Marketing Intern) -- Sapulpa National Honor Society chapters have been hard at work!

The Sapulpa Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter recently volunteered at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma (pictured left). In all, they packed 2,175 pounds of food which will provide 1,813 meals.

You can also find members of Sapulpa High School's chapter of National Honor Society doing good work in our community.

NHS is made up of Sapulpa High School students who have dedicated their time not only to earning a stellar grade point average, but to community service.

31 seniors and 33 juniors participate in Sapulpa High School's NHS chapter, which is an affiliate of the national organization.

In the fall alone, NHS students served a grand total of 496 community service hours! NHS participates in food drives, clothing drives, nursing home drives, and other service projects across the Sapulpa community.

In the fall of 2021, NHS students gathered an estimated $665 worth of food, clothes, and other items to assist Sapulpans in need.

NHS also hosts an American Red Cross Blood Drive. 55 units of blood were donated during the drive last fall. Each donation will save up to three lives.

"The number of service hours is very impressive," said SHS' NHS sponsor Sarah Bacon-Kellogg. "These students are committed to keeping our community vibrant, clean and well-served."

Thank you, students, and keep up the good work!
