Lusk named head track & field coach

(From sapulpaathletics.org) -- A familiar name in a new role. Long-time Sapulpa teacher, Jeremy Lusk, has been named the new head varsity track coach.

Lusk has been with the district 18 years as a teacher and 17 years as a coach. He previously coached junior high track and cross country while also teaching 10th and 11th grade English at Sapulpa High School. Lusk was named 2022 Site Teacher of the Year for the high school as well.

“I am very thankful for this great opportunity to work with great people and great student athletes in a great community,” says Lusk.

The athletic department is also very thankful to have Lusk in this new role and knows he will thrive.

“His familiarity with our program, the parents, and the district brings some consistency that we are looking forward to providing some long-term success to the program” says Athletic Director, Michael Rose.

While this is a different role for Lusk, he plans on applying the same philosophy he always has.

“I will approach it the same way I have always approached coaching…by building strong relationships, having high expectations, holding each other accountable, and demonstrating humility above everything else”.

Sapulpa varsity track & field had 23 state qualifiers last year and looks to add more athletes under Lusk’s reign. Track & Field resumes competing in Spring 2023.
