Lady Chieftains win State 5A Basketball Championship

Lady Chieftains win State 5A Basketball Championship(SPS) -- The Lady Chieftains varsity basketball team capped off a standout season as 5A State Champions, recapturing 2021 glory. State MVP senior Stailee Heard (#32) made the buzzer beater winning basket. The Lady Chieftains defeated Holland Hall 75-74!

Heard, who has signed to play with OSU in the fall, scored 41 points, telling the Oklahoman "It's unforgettable. I love this team and we have so much potential. Our younger ones are determined and play with so much heart. I love them. I am glad we pulled it out."

Head coach Darlean Calip thanked those across the district who supported the team, saying "What an incredible ride! We believed! We believed in each other and the process and the journey was so meaningful and incredibly rewarding."

Stailee Heard was named 5A Tulsa World All-State MVP, All-State First Team and Oklahoman All-Tournament MVP. Junior Tyla Heard was named Tulsa World All-State First Team and Oklahoman All-Tournament Team and junior Taylor Bilby was named Tulsa World All-State Second Team.
