Robotics team advances to world championship(SPS) -- Sapulpa High School's Robotics Team, led by STEM instructor Ken Cole and Christine Linder, qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston in April.

The Oklahoma regional competition, held in Shawnee in March, attracted three dozen teams from across Oklahoma and Colorado. Sapulpa's team won a Championship Qualifying Award for their S.C.R.E.E.C.H. project. The team also went on to win first place in the Green Country Regional on April 8.

FIRST Robotics is the "ultimate Sport for the Mind," according to its website. Students are challenged to raise funds, come up with a team brand, and utilize teamwork to build and program industrial-sized robots to compete with other players.

FIRST Robotics states, "It's as close to real-world engineering as a student can get."

Thank you to the Bartlett Foundation for helping fund the Robotics program at Sapulpa Public Schools.
