Senior Jaidyn Adams earns Academic All-State Scholar Award
Posted on 02/23/2023
(SPS) -- Sapulpa High School senior Jaidyn Adams is one of only 100 outstanding public high school seniors statewide to earn the Academic All-State Award. She is the first SHS senior to receive the honor since 2012.

The Academic All-State Award Program is the flagship program of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. Jaidyn joins a prestigious group of accomplished students who excel in academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Only 17 Sapulpa High School seniors, including Jaidyn, have received the award since its inception in 1987.

Jaidyn applied for the Academic All-State Program and received letters of recommendation from her teachers. But the committee-based selection process is rigorous.

"This is a tremendous honor for Jaidyn. This is a very big deal. We are so proud that her excellent work throughout her time at Sapulpa High School is being recognized in this way," said Seth Shibley, SHS principal.

Jaidyn, who also runs on Sapulpa's varsity cross country and track teams and is a member of Sapulpa's chapter of National Honor Society, is humble about the accomplishment.

"I just applied and submitted the information," she said. "I had to write an essay as part of the application, and I am grateful to Mr. Lusk and Ms. Bacon for giving me recommendations."

Jaidyn, who is enrolled in AP courses as well as TCC-concurrent courses, plans to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall, where she intends to study psychology and pre-med.

According to the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, this year’s All-Staters scored an average of 33 on the ACT. The students’ average GPA was 4.25.

Each student will receive a $1,500 merit-based scholarship, honor cord and a medallion at the foundation's 37th annual Academic Awards Celebration on May 20 at Cox Convention Center in Tulsa -- the day after Jaidyn graduates from Sapulpa High School.

Congratulations, Jaidyn, and job well done!
