(SPS) -- School Zone is a two-day camp offered to incoming 6th grade students to Sapulpa Middle School.

It will be held August 7-8, 9 a.m. - noon. Registration is $20 and takes place on Friday, August 4, 9 a.m. - noon at Sapulpa Middle School.

Or you may register your student online. Please click here to register online by Friday, Aug. 4. Then submit your payment using the link below. Insert your child's name in the blank field.

The major goal of the camp is to familiarize the new sixth grade students to middle school life. Students are given the opportunity to become familiar with the school building, staff, and the routine of a middle school day.

This camp provides the students with the opportunity to spend time with teachers and other students and become comfortable with the school facility in a non-threatening setting. Students participate in activities that allow them to practice the types of daily procedures and functions they will be expected to perform during the regular year. Students participate in academic, social, and intramural activities within rotating cooperative groups.

By the end of the camp students are able to locate the common areas and sixth grade classrooms, read a typical schedule, and know whom to contact in case of a problem. Students will have a chance to become acquainted with students from the other elementary feeder schools. Participants in this camp form new friendships and establish a support system to use throughout middle school.
