(SPS) -- Community leaders, business owners, and elementary school principals are offering opportunities for Sapulpa High School juniors and seniors to get a head start on real-world experience.

Students filled Shaw Auditorium Tuesday to hear about internship and employment opportunities from several speakers.

Artis Thompson of McDonald's shared information about McDonald's internship program, Archways to Opportunities, which includes tuition assistance and scholarships, as well flexible employment opportunities.

Cindy Lawrence, director of Sapulpa Main Street, told students how they could get involved with the community through volunteer work at one of Sapulpa's numerous annual events.

Tawni Vickers, Social Media & Marketing Coordinator at the City of Sapulpa, presented a variety of ways students can assist with city business, from working in the city planning office, learning the processes for city mapping, and even shadowing first responders.

Sapulpa graduate Matt Bennett is offering paid positions at his company, Bennett Steel, to help students looking for part-time work.

Heather Cupp, Human Resources Director at Senegence International, also shared with students how they can learn the ropes at a growing business with offices across the globe.

Juniors and seniors also have a chance to discover whether they should pursue a career path in education by taking part in learning programs at one of Sapulpa's elementary schools.

Ray Markley, advisor of ChieftainTV, and Niko McWilliams, the district's new video production coordinator, spoke about opportunities to shoot video and be part of a live video production crew at Chieftain sporting events.

Students are urged to contact the counselor's office or senior class sponsor Karli Myers to take advantage of one of these exciting internship opportunities.
