Chieftains Volleyball headed to state tournament

(SPS) -- Update: Although defeated by Carl Albert in the state tournament, Sapulpa Lady Chieftains Volleyball ended the season with big honors.

Coach Corey Harp was named the Oklahoma Coaches Association Region 2 Volleyball Coach of the Year.

Senior Ryann Hoey was named 5A All State. She also was named to the Frontier Valley Conference (FVC) 2nd team. Junior Stailee Heard was selected for the Frontier Valley All Conference 1st Team. FVC honors went to senior Jessica Thompson and sophomore Tyla Heard.



(SPS) -- The Chieftains Varsity Volleyball team is set to go to the state tournament as 5A Regional Champions for the second straight season.

The team defeated the Shawnee Wolves 3-1 Monday at Chieftain Center. This was the first time Sapulpa has hosted the regional volleyball tournament.

Head Coach Corey Harp and Assistant Coach Anna Bezhan are extremely proud of this team, which has conquered some major rivals throughout the season including securing a win in the Highway 97 Rivalry against Sand Springs.

The Chieftains head to Verdigris on Monday, October 18, to battle in the state tournament. Their first match is against Carl Albert at 1:30 p.m.
