News on 6 Spirit Stick(SPS) -- Sapulpa High School students, the Big Blue Band, the Ping Pings, varsity cheerleaders and the Chieftain varsity football team gathered on a warm Thursday morning for a much-anticipated visit from the News on 6.

The high school organized a pep rally for the News on 6/TTCU Federal Credit Union Spirit Stick presentation.

The coveted Spirit Stick award goes to an area high school that shows great school pride and spirit during football season. This time, the Sapulpa High School was the chosen school.

News on 6 anchor Dave Davis directed the groups of students before the camera started rolling. Then, the presentation began with a fanfare of cheering while the band played the Chieftains fight song.

Davis interviewed senior star running back Tyreese Jones about the upcoming game strategy against the Tahlequah Tigers. He also spoke with senior drum major Riley Groves about the Big Blue Band's recent marching competition win. Brooklyn Berry talked to Davis about the Sapulpa Ping Pings Dance Team's 50 year anniversary.

Davis introduced the football team and released the spirit stick in front of the stands, showering students with confetti.

Not every school gets the honor of being on the News on 6 morning show three times to drum up excitement for Friday Night Lights.  Congrats to our Chieftains for showing they have what it takes to earn the Spirit Stick!
