Sapulpa Public Schools is tracking COVID-19 cases in the district
Posted on 08/23/2021
(SPS) -- Sapulpa Public Schools is monitoring the number of COVID-19 cases reported to the district. These numbers will fluctuate as people recover and move in and out of isolation.

Those who test positive were not necessarily exposed at school or at other district sites. This data reflects the number of students and staff currently out of school and in isolation as advised by the Creek County Health Department and district guidelines as outlined by federal and local health officials.

Sapulpa Public Schools is following CDC and Creek County Health Department recommendations, requiring all students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 to be isolated for at least 10 days from either a.) the onset of symptoms or b.) a positive test.

Students or staff who test positive must meet the following conditions before returning to school or an SPS site:
  • 24 hours fever-free without fever-reducing medication
  • 10 days since the onset of symptoms or 10 days since a positive test when no symptoms are present

  • When to stay home: List of COVID-19 symptoms and key questions

School administration will conduct contact tracing when the school is notified of a possible COVID-19 exposure at a building. The following guidelines are in place for contact tracing:
  • Parents will be notified if their child is within six (6) feet of a person who tests positive for COVID-19.
  • Parents are asked to closely monitor their child's health and notify their doctor should the child develop symptoms.
  • Students and parents must self-monitor for symptoms and may return to school or self-quarantine with no academic or attendance penalties. Students or staff members experiencing any symptoms should stay home.

  • Sapulpa Public Schools strongly recommends all students, staff members, and visitors wear masks at school buildings, school events, and on school transportation. Masks will be available at school buildings and on buses.

These protocols are subject to change as we monitor the ongoing situation with COVID-19 in our community.

Vaccines are approved for people ages 12 and up. Currently, Med-World Pharmacy located at 14 S. Mission St. offers vaccines Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., without an appointment. The vaccine is also available at Creek County Health Department.

The CDC and local health officials advise following the "3 W's" to protect yourself and others:

    1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
    2. Wear a mask or face covering when in public and around others not in your household.
    3. Watch your distance, keeping at least 6 feet apart from others as often as possible.

At Sapulpa Public Schools, our foremost priority is the safety of our students, staff, and community members.
