Connor Cornelius and Michael Rose(SPS) -- And the final Core Value Award for the 2020-21 school year goes to senior Connor Cornelius.

Cornelius is a four-year member of the Sapulpa Chieftains Soccer program.

The award is given to the student who best exemplifies the values of Sapulpa Chieftains Athletics - character, humility, commitment, integrity, self-control, mental toughness, team, responsibility, honor, and service.

The winner is selected after nominations are submitted by the coaches and reviewed by the athletics department.

Cornelius was honored for his leadership and exhibition of the Core Value of Service.

“He has been a part of every project all four years, and this year has led the boys in helping at Care and Community Friends, Pen Pals to Seniors, gift baskets to nursing homes, collection of Christmas gifts to seniors in nursing care facilities, organizing our group that helps at GUTS Friday groceries and then Connor was the leader in helping two different Sapulpa School employees move into their new homes,” said Athletic Director Michael Rose as he read from the nomination submission. “Connor has served this team, this athletic department, his school, and his community more and better than any student athlete I have ever had the honor to coach.”

The Core Value Award is sponsored by Tier One Lawn and Landscape. Winners of the award receive a Sapulpa Chieftains t-shirt, a plaque, and a QuikTrip gift card courtesy of Tier One.
