Student Art Show returns May 4th

2021 Sapulpa Student Art Show(SPS) - It’s back!

The Sapulpa Student Art Show will return to the campus of Sapulpa High School for in-person viewing of the amazing artwork students created this year.

In 2020, the art show was curated into a digital catalog due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sapulpa Arts will host a reception for the Sapulpa Public Schools Annual Student Art Exhibit on Tuesday, May 4. The reception, which is open to the public, will be held at Sapulpa High School gymnasium between 5 and 7 p.m.

The exhibit will feature approximately 1,200 entries created by approximately 400 Sapulpa Middle, Junior High, and Senior High School students.

Categories of the artwork include:
  • Pencil
  • Colored pencil
  • Paint
  • Pastel
  • Mixed media
  • Pen and ink
  • Watercolor
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture
  • Digital art
  • Ceramics
  • Charcoal
  • Conte
  • Stained glass
Awards to be presented include:
  • Best of Show
  • Judge’s Choice
  • Outstanding Senior Artists
  • First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention awards will be given in each category by a panel of local artists and art enthusiasts.
Exhibit viewings are on Wednesday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, May 6, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The public is welcome on Wednesday and Thursday, however, visitors must check in at the main office to receive a guest pass.

The exhibit is coordinated by Sapulpa High School art instructors Candice McClanahan and Jolene Martin; Junior High School art instructors Kelsey Philpott and Carmen Taylor; and Middle School School art instructor Allie Ruth.
