Heard, Munson win Core Value Award for Sept.

Core Value Award winners(SPS) -- It was a photo finish between two student-athletes for the Core Value Award for the month of September.

The award is given to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the values of Sapulpa Chieftains Athletics - character, humility, commitment, integrity, self-control, mental toughness, team, responsibility, honor, and service.

The winner is selected after nominations are submitted by the coaches and reviewed by the athletics department. In this case, winners.

Cross Country runner Stailee Heard and Wrestler Garret Munson were honored for their leadership and exhibition of the Core Value of Humility.

“She is compassionate, she is free of pride, and seeks to win in whatever she is doing. She realizes she has been blessed with exceptional talents and it’s all in God’s plan for her,” said Athletic Director Michael Rose as he read from the nomination submission.

“He is a lead by example leader. Although he’s not very vocal, when he does speak up, it is always in a positive manner towards his teammates,” Mr. Rose read from the submission form for Garret.

The Core Value Award is sponsored by Tier One Lawn. Winners of the award receive a QuikTrip gift card courtesy of Tier One.
