Stailee Heard, Sept. 5, 2020(SPS) - If you blinked, you probably missed her.

We're talking about sophomore Stailee Heard and her performances at the Sapulpa Chieftain Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 5 and the Booker T. Washington Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 10.

Stailee set the 2-mile course record at the Westside Sports Complex on Saturday winning her race in 11:29. That's a pace of 5 minutes and 44 seconds per mile. That's fast!

The previous course record was 12:11 and Stailee needed every second of the 42 seconds she blew off the previous time. She won the race by a single second over the next runner.

She followed up that performance with a school record run in the 5k at the BTW meet on Thursday. Without another runner in sight, Stailee dug deep and sprinted to the finish line to come in at an unofficial time of 18:48 to win the race.

"I had a huge lead ahead, but me being determined and trying to get my PR, I wanted to get a good time," said Stailee.

It's shaping up to be another great year for Stailee and the members of Sapulpa Cross Country.
