Virtual Celebration: The Graduating Class of 2020
Posted on 05/21/2020
Seniors Audrey Malay and Gage Williams(SPS) -- February 11, 2019.

That date may not mean much to many people, but it was on that day the senior class of 2020 found out when they would graduate.

It was then, during the February board meeting of the Sapulpa School Board of Education, the calendar for the 2019-2020 school year was approved, and there it was on May 22. Senior Graduation.

Never would anyone have imagined on that cold winter day that 15 months later we would be where we are today.

Despite the pandemic that forced limitations on gatherings and shuttered schools across the state, we could not let May 22 pass without honoring our seniors.

With that being said, the Virtual Celebration of the Class of 2020 will premiere at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22 on the Sapulpa Public Schools YouTube channel or in the video player below. You don’t have to leave the safety and comfort of your home to help us honor these amazing students who have earned the right to have this night to themselves.

We hope you enjoy the program. We would like to see your photos and images from your own watch parties, so don’t forget to hashtag #ChieftainStrong when you post them to social media.

One final note, the Virtual Celebration does not replace a traditional Graduation. It has been the intent of Sapulpa Public Schools to hold an in-person ceremony if the restrictions loosen and allow us to do so. We have set aside June 26 and July 17 as opportunities to bring our seniors together. We will make an announcement by June 12 if we’re able to host the in-person gathering on June 26. Stay tuned!
