Lady Chieftains advance to State(SPS) -- It’s good to be back.

The Sapulpa Lady Chieftains are returning to the State Basketball Championship Tournament for the first time in five years following their 66-57 victory over Mustang in the Area Tournament on Saturday.

The State Tournament is a who’s who collection of squads this year.

Seven of the eight schools in the bracket are ranked in the top eight in the class of 6A, including Sapulpa. The outlier is #15 Ponca City who advanced with an upset of Booker T. Washington.

Sapulpa (23-4) will face Moore (21-5) on Thursday, March 12 at the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University. Tip-off is at 3:30 p.m.

The other teams in the tournament are Norman, Edmond North, Union, Choctaw, and Deer Creek.
