Sapulpa at United Way Awards(SPS) -- A record crowd attended the Tulsa Area United Way 2020 Live United Awards on Tuesday.

And that record crowd witnessed the benevolence of Sapulpa Public Schools as the district was recognized twice during the event.

The Live United Awards event is the culmination of the 2019 United Way campaign across northeast Oklahoma. Companies and individuals are recognized for their efforts in growing the charitable contributions for the non-profit organization.

Elementary Instructional Coach Julie Enlow was brought up on stage to talk about the partnership between the district and Caring Community Friends to build a Mobile Book Bus that provides children in our community with food and books during the summer months.

Enlow was joined by Dr. Camille Teale, Executive Director of CCF, to talk about the social innovation grant Dr. Teale applied for that ultimately funded the idea of the bus. It was the first time the United Way has spotlighted a social innovation grant winner during the Live United Awards.

During the announcement of the various awards, Sapulpa Public Schools was named the recipient of the Green Country Business Award. This award is reserved for a company that increased the size of its campaign over the previous year, demonstrated volunteer involvement and followed the prescribed steps to a successful campaign.

The district won the award due to its overall increase of 14 percent in the 2019 campaign where each school and administration site demonstrated growth. Additionally, members of the admin team also volunteered on the Campaign Cabinet, Sapulpa Volunteer Committee, and during the Sapulpa Day of Caring.

“Their campaign continues to lead by example and generate support within the Sapulpa community,” read the Live United Awards program describing the district’s involvement.

Superintendent Rob Armstrong, who served as Chair of the Sapulpa Area United Way Campaign, and Administrative Assistant/Board Clerk Misty Jones, who served as Co-Chair of the campaign accepted the award on stage from Alison Anthony, President and CEO of Tulsa Area United Way.
