Lady Chieftains hosting, boys on the road for regionals

Sapulpa Chieftains basketball(SPS) -- The high school basketball regular season has come to an end and that means regionals are next up on the schedule.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association announced the assignments for this year’s regional and it was good news for the Lady Chieftains.

Sapulpa (20-3) will host Region 2 which includes Bartlesville (5-10), Bixby (15-8), and Stillwater (7-12) on Feb. 27 and 29. Game 1 will feature the Spartans and the Bruins at 6:30 p.m. with the Lady Chieftains and the Pioneers tipping off Game 2 at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The winners of Games 1 and 2 will play on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Lady Chieftains are familiar with two of the three teams playing at the Chieftain Center. They swept the season series with Bixby and beat the Bruins in Bartlesville.

Region 2 will face Region 1 in the Area Tournament. Region 1 schools include Norman, Enid, Ponca City, and Jenks. Norman is hosting the regional.

GIRLS POSTSEASON BRACKET

On the boys side of the postseason, the Chieftains will stay close to home as they were placed in Region 1 at Booker T. Washington High School.

Sapulpa (5-12) will face Yukon (12-10) in Game 1 at 6:30 p.m. while host BTW (17-5) will take on Bartlesville (1-15) in Game 2 at 8 p.m. Games 1 and 2 will be played on Feb. 28 with the regional championship on Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.

Region 2 is at Sand Springs and features Bixby, Broken Arrow, and Enid.
