Performance Theatre class(SPS) -- The high school Performance Theatre class competed in the OSSAA Regional One-Act competition on Oct. 12 and one of its students was recognized for her performance.

The 13 members of the cast and two members of the crew performed Beyond Tolerance.

A one-act play is any published single act play or part of a full-length play or screenplay.

Beyond Tolerance, a satirical performance about political correctness, follows the story of a new student who discovers her ideas of right and wrong don’t fit in at her new school. She learns that conforming to the new order isn’t up for debate, but actually required.

Sapulpa competed against Muskogee, Broken Arrow, Sand Springs, Owasso, and Edison High School and finished in fourth place.

Sophomore Briana Williams won an All-Star Cast Award for her performance as Gracious Mary Sensible. Ten students were recognized for outstanding acting performances.

The students had only 45 minutes to set the stage, present the play, and clear the set. The emphasis of the contest is based on the acting ability of the students in the cast and how they perform before an audience.

Three judges will assign points on three criteria; acting, directing, and technical. Acting is scored 0 to 50 points while directing and technical are scored up to 25 points. The play with the highest sum of points scored is the winner.
