Chieftains at Edmond Pre-State(SPS) - Divide and conquer. That was the motto for the Sapulpa Chieftains Cross Country teams this past weekend.

The Varsity and Junior Varsity squads traveled to Edmond while the Junior High and Middle School teams stayed closer to home.

At Edmond Santa Fe High School for the 5A/6A Pre-State meet, 17 schools, including our Sapulpa Chieftains, participated. The team will return in November for the 2019 6A State Cross Country Meet.

Overall, the boys finished 8th while the girls finished 7th.

Individually, Mason Quinton placed 8th and Evan Quinton crossed in 11th.

“They raced very well and shaved a large amount off their times from this race on this course last year,” said coach Debbie Williams.

Michael Lara Lara, Desmond Bible, and Jaxon Lary completed the team scoring for the boys.

On the girls side, Stailee Heard came in 2nd overall (19:59.35) and Sydney Krehbiel also medaled by finishing in the top 20 (20:59.20). Leona Crowl, Kara Peiffer, and Joyce Stoneking finished out the scoring for the girls.

The Varsity and JV squads compete again on Thursday at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.
