Board approves hire of new AD Rose

Michael Rose, Athletic Director(SPS) - Sapulpa Public Schools has announced Michael Rose as its new Athletic Director.

The Sapulpa Schools Board of Education unanimously approved the hire during its meeting on June 10. 

Rose comes from Union Public Schools where he has served as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Most recently, he has been the Associate Director of Student Life, where he oversaw all events involving high school students.

Prior to that, Rose was an Associate Athletic Director at Union with direct supervision of the track, soccer, cross country, swimming, cheerleading, volleyball, and strength and conditioning programs.

“We are extremely excited to have Mr. Rose join our team,” said Rob Armstrong, Superintendent of Sapulpa Public Schools. “He comes to us highly recommended and with the experience necessary to use sports to help mold our student-athletes into well-rounded, productive members of the community while preparing them for life after they graduate.”

Rose has held varsity coaching positions in football, track, and baseball during his time at Union, as well as while at Joplin High School and Carthage Junior High in Missouri. He has taught science and special education.

He was named the 2014 State of Oklahoma Athletic Director of the Year - Newcomer, Eastside.

“I look forward to donning Chieftain blue and working alongside the outstanding coaches we have here in Sapulpa,” said Rose. “We have a great foundation already in place, and I’m excited about expanding on that solid footing, along with the opportunities we can introduce to our student-athletes.”

Rose graduated from Carl Albert High School in Midwest City where he was a member of two state champion football teams and two state runner-up baseball teams.

After high school, Rose attended Pittsburg State University in Kansas earning his Bachelor of Science in Education. He earned his Master’s in Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2012.

Rose assumes his new role officially on July 1.
