The Sapulpa Chieftains Basketball program is led by two outstanding head coaches.

Coach Rickey Bruner, a Sapulpa High School graduate and 2019 Region 2 Coach of the Year, has brought new life to the boys program with a recent run to the state tournament. The girls program is led by hall of fame head coach Darlean Calip who has three state titles to her claim, including one here at Sapulpa High School. Both programs hold basketball camps in early June. Basketball season begins in December and home games are held at the Chieftain Center.

GIRLS

Our mission is to provide a range of services and support to emphasize the values and advantages of obtaining an education through participation in athletics. The greatest challenge is to mentor and work with young ladies throughout the year to help better prepare them for the future.

Teams include Varsity, Junior Varsity, 9th Grade, 8th Grade, and two 7th Grade (A and B) squads. No tryouts.

Players will have the opportunity to gain valuable life experiences and skills, learn to care and appreciate the values of family, serve as a positive role model, represent community with pride.

Highlights of girls program include:
State Champions (1980, 1998, 2007)
State Runners-Up (1979, 1996, 1997, 2008)
OSSAA Academic Achievement (cumulative team GPA of 3.3 or better) 14 years
Frontier Valley Conference academic honors
Former players include: Tulsa World Player of the Year, McDonald's All-American, Gatorade Player of the Year, and numerous student-athletes who have gone on to play collegiately.

BOYS

The Sapulpa Chieftains boys program consists of seven teams with each playing coach Bruner's "dog mentality" style up and down the court. Bruner installed a mentoring program, Boys II Men, to help the players not only on the court, but more importantly, for life outside of basketball.

Teams include Varsity, Junior Varsity, 10th Grade, 9th Grade, 8th Grade, and two 7th Grade squads.
