Middle School earns Outstanding Project design award

Sapulpa Middle School(SPS) - When you drive along Cleveland Ave. past Sapulpa Middle School it’s fairly easy to take your eyes off the road and look at the building.

The huge windowed-facade with Chieftains spelled down the right side is hard to miss. It’s even harder at night when the inside has a blue glow.

And once you walk inside, the charm doesn’t stop there especially when you see the commons area and library.

The renovation of the Middle School a few years ago was a much-needed project. And now, it’s been recognized as an Outstanding Project in the Spring 2019 Educational Facilities Design Awards Showcase.

SMS is featured on page 62 of the April edition of Learning By Design magazine.

The panel of judges scored the submissions on six criteria; Innovation, 21st Century Learning, Community Needs, Interiors, Sustainability, and Functional Design.

As the article points out, most of the classrooms were relocated to the new two-story wing. The vacated part of the school was renovated for the new kitchen, commons area, administration center, and library. All of which helped to improve the learning environment which was the top priority for the project.
