Sapulpa community answers call for school supplies

Sapulpa boys soccer donates school supplies(SPS) - She asked for school supplies and the Sapulpa community did not disappoint.

She is Stacey Berry, Homeless Coordinator/Family Liaison for Sapulpa Public Schools.

Berry coordinates the district's efforts for our students who need assistance with school meals, clothing, food at home on the weekends, and of course, school supplies.

On Aug. 20th, Berry created a post on Facebook asking for help with donations. Her stock of school supplies was running low and she was getting requests from our school counselors.

The post worked.

Within one week, she had received enough supplies to fill five six-foot long tables in her office. Binders, mechanical pencils, crayons, spiral notebooks, markers, and more were piled high.

Wednesday afternoon Berry got a visit from the boys' soccer team. Coach Shubert had challenged his players to answer the call for help and they followed through delivering a box-full.

Berry plans to begin divvying up the supplies this week and have them ready for delivery to the schools when classes resume following Labor Day.

But before that can happen, we need to thank everyone who's donated!
