Teachers listen in during our Professional Learning Day on Aug. 15.(SPS) - The day before we opened our doors for the 2018-19 school year, our teachers were already back in the classroom.

As students. Not teachers.

Sapulpa Public Schools administration held a Professional Learning Day for staff. Teachers from around the district attended the event at the high school.

Courses ranging from communications to tech tips to prevention and de-escalation strategies in the classroom were on the agenda. There were more than 25 courses offered during the day-long workshop.

The morning sessions began at 8 and continued through to 11 a.m. From there, SPS staff was treated to lunch at First Baptist Church before heading back to attend the fourth and final session.

The day ended with Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year Donna Gradel speaking to a packed Shaw Auditorium. Her message of having a passion and making a difference was a nice capper to the day and kickstart to the new year.
