John Christner Trucking visits with Holmes Park Elementary Students(SPS) -- The week of September 12-18 is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and Holmes Park Elementary students are thanking the nation's truck drivers in a special way.

Students created and wrote hundreds of thank-you notes for truck drivers. The notes not only express gratitude for drivers' everyday efforts to make sure important goods are delivered, but also for their extraordinary work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Truck drivers have played a critical role during the pandemic," said Roger Johnson, Holmes Park Elementary principal. "This is our way of showing our appreciation. We're teaching kids that truck drivers play an essential role in our lives. They make sure the food, goods and supplies we need are delivered safely and on time."

Truck driver Jack Wallace from John Christner Trucking of Sapulpa made a stop at Holmes Park to give students a tour of a semi and explain a day in the life of a truck driver.

Students personally delivered a box of thank-you notes for John Christner's drivers.

John Christner truck drivers plan to make other stops across the district throughout National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
