School supplies for the Go Bags(SPS) - That is a lot of school supplies!

When you walk into room 312 at the Washington Administrative Center, that is the first thing that hits you when you see the tables stacked with boxes and boxes and boxes of school supplies.

Back in August, Sapulpa Public Schools received a call from the George F. Collins, Jr. Foundation. The Foundation wanted to help our elementary school students and during the discussion it was determined that its generous donation of $55,800 would go towards the purchase of "Go Bags" filled with school supplies.

The Go Bags will be sent home with students in PK through 5th grades in the event we must transition to Distance Learning.

"These supplies will ensure that our elementary school students will be able to continue their education with as little disruption as possible if we move to Distance Learning," said Donia Doudican, Director of Instructional Design for Sapulpa Public Schools.

"The donation also eases the burden on families who may not have the resources to purchase another set of supplies if we're in that remote learning environment. And that's incredibly important as some may be dealing with financial hardships because of the pandemic."

What are the supplies the district purchased with the donation?
  • Bags: 2,000
  • Blunt scissors: 450
  • Student scissors: 1,260
  • Thin markers (10 count): 970
  • Thick markers (10 count): 1,225
  • Glue sticks: 1,700
  • Pencils: 1,500
  • Colored pencils (12 count): 525
  • Crayons (24 count): 1,450
  • Watercolor sets: 225
  • Rulers: 1,260
  • Dice: 3,400
  • Pencil sharpeners: 1,700
  • Whiteboards: 1,700
  • Mice: 550
Now, the attention turns toward unpacking the boxes, filling the bags with supplies, distributing the bags to the schools, and putting them in classrooms. With the help of our student leadership groups, the bags should be ready soon.
